This December, a deluxe new entertainment venue will open at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. That venue, which will replace the resort's current Chelsea Ballroom, has been dubbed the "New Chelsea." Grammy-award winning singer Bruno Mars is scheduled to perform at the fantastic new venue on December 29th and 31st. Cosmopolitan CEO John Unwin has called Mars a “perfect fit” for his facility, remarking that the performer has a definite “affinity” for Las Vegas-style entertaining. As such, Mars has also been scheduled to perform at the Cosmopolitan's New Chelsea in February, May, and August of 2014.
Bruno Mars: A Rising Star
The Hawaiian singer and songwriter, originally born Peter Gene Bayot Hernandez, was nicknamed “Bruno” by his father as a child. While still in his teens, the young performer signed a contract with the esteemed Motown Records brand in 2004. That business deal flopped, but it didn't mean the end for Mars. Behind the scenes, he diligently wrote songs for hit singers like 'Brandy' and 'Flo Rida'. Eventually, the talented musician made it as a singer in his own right. Two of Mars' earliest radio hits, “Just the Way You Are” and “Grenade,” helped propel him into pop music fame.
Mars was nominated for several Grammy awards in 2012, including the award for best album of the year. Although he did not win that year, he delivered a stellar performance at the awards ceremony which got him a lot of attention. When his second album came out, the songs “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man” helped snowball the momentum of the performer's fast-paced career.
In September 2013, it was announced that Mars would perform at the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show. This honor raised Mars to an even greater level of prestige and stardom. According to the NFL, the halftime show that will feature Mars is the "most-watched musical event of the year."
The fact that Mars will spend this New Year's Eve entertaining fans at the the Cosmopolitan's New Chelsea is a boon to both the entertainer and the casino resort. Not only will Mars help guests at the Cosmopolitan usher in a new year, he will return to the venue several times in 2014 as a recurring performer.
About the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas was voted the best hotel in North America in 2013 by gogobot.com. Located at the center of the action on the Strip, this sleek and sexy casino resort stands between the Bellagio casino/hotel and the city center. Guests of this vertical high rise have a spectacular view of the city, including the glorious fountains of the Bellagio. The hotel offers nearly 3,000 spacious and accommodating rooms to guests. The casino floor presents gamblers with a 75,000 square foot array of gaming choices.
Unique features of the facility include the Pop-Up Wedding Chapel, where marriages can “begin and end” in less than 24 hours, the Sahra Spa, where guests experience the peace and serenity of a sensuous desert landscape, and a bevy of entertaining nightclubs and bars. This winter, the Boulevard Pool will once again be converted into a magnificent ice rink where guests can skate, sip cocktails, and enjoy a cozy fire pit complete with s'mores.
Gambling at the Cosmopolitan
It's not the largest gaming floor in the city, but the Cosmopolitan certainly holds its own when it comes to exciting slots and games. Guest enjoy live table games like baccarat, blackjack, Spanish 21, poker, roulette, and craps. Nearly 1,500 slot machines await visitors; authentic reel-spinning games and modern video slots are available in betting denominations from one penny to $500. A race and sports book lounge with large screen televisions is also open to guests on the second floor.
Dining at the Cosmopolitan
Visitors probably won't have enough time to eat at all 13 of the fabulous restaurants available at this award-winning hotel. Whether a diner is in the mood for casual grille fare or a gourmet meal prepared by star chefs, the Cosmopolitan has something to satisfy everyone's taste buds.
About the New Chelsea
The Cosmopolitan currently houses the Chelsea Ballroom on its fourth floor, but that venue is nothing like the New Chelsea that is currently under construction. Lisa Marchese, the casino resort's chief marketing officer, likens the new venue to the Moody Theater of Austin, Texas, at which the famed PBS music show Austin City Limits is filmed. Marchese has remarked that the Chelsea will be able to handle “any genre” of music, as well as boxing and other forms of entertainment. Marchese added that the Chelsea will not be a “production-show venue;” that role is being saved for a new social club that is to be built on the floor below the Chelsea called “Rose.Rabbit.Lie.”
The new venue with the unusual name has been touted a “social club” by Cosmopolitan officials. While dining and entertainment will be featured, officials refuse to confine this experimental new venue to the role of restaurant or theater. Rose.Rabbit.Lie will be more of a social hangout in which guests are not just observers, but active participants in the social night life of the casino. While the concept of a social club is not new to Las Vegas, the Cosmopolitan has added a 21st century twist to its plans for Rose.Rabbit.Lie, which is scheduled to open its doors this December along with the New Chelsea.
North America's award-winning hotel, the Las Vegas Cosmopolitan, has a lot to offer guests, and the offerings are only going to get bigger and better as winter rolls in. Lucky visitors will continue to experience magnificent gaming, luxurious rooms, and superb dining. They will also have the opportunity to experience several new, fantastic entertainment venues. The performance of Bruno Mars this December 31st seems to signify that the best is yet to come for this up-and-coming Las Vegas casino and resort.
