Roller Coaster Dice is part of the Playtech Arcade series. It uses a lighthearted amusement park theme to frame a basic gambling game where the object is to predict whether a second dice roll will be higher or lower than the previous roll.
The default stake is $0.10, but players can increase it to as high as $100. The game is organized into 11 levels, and there are four win tiers: the fifth level, seventh level, ninth level and eleventh level. When a player reaches a win tier, he or she has the option of cashing out. The payout is four times the stake at level 5, seven times at level 7, 13 times at level 9 and 30 times at level 11. Keep in mind that at level 11 there is no option but rather an automatic cash-out.
A player has to make 10 correct guesses in order to win the jackpot. A guess can be “Lower”, “Lower or Same,” “Higher,” or “Higher or Same” depending on the options that the game presents based on the current roll. Level 5 is reached with four correct guesses, level 7 with six and level 9 with 8. When a player chooses to cash-out the game ends, and when a player chooses incorrectly, the game ends.
Sevens are the special feature in Roller Coaster Dice, and all sevens count regardless of the combinations used to achieve them. The special feature kicks in on a consecutive seven and automatically advances the player to the next win tier. Keep in mind that the knowledge that a seven will win regardless sometimes changes the odds and thus the proper choice.
Graphics & Audio
Roller Coaster Dice has a great look to it. The level system can be a little confusing at first glance, but it’s straightforward once the player understands the concept. The sound effects of rolling dice are quite good and immersive, but the background muzak will be tedious to some. Fortunately, there is a menu option to disable the background noise without disabling the dice and ladder sounds.
The top jackpot is $3,000, which requires a $100 wager. In this scenario, the player would have had the option to cash out at $400, $700 and $1,300. Based on the odds, at level 5, players should cash out if the current roll is a 5 to 9, and at level 7 and 9, players should cast out if the current roll is 6 to 8.
Roller Coaster Dice is a game of chance and a simple one at that. Even though there are choices to be made, those choices are rather straightforward based on the odds. Nevertheless, it manages to be fun in short sessions and is a game that all players will want to try at least once.
