3 Card Poker Gold is a variant of Microgaming’s earlier version of 3 Card Poker. Most of the features are the same, but there are some minor aesthetic differences and a few playing and payout differences. This is a game that is played against the dealer through your computer, but it is not what one would consider to be traditional video poker; rather, it is a digital version of a table game that one plays against the house, much like blackjack. Rather than relying on a score as close to 21 as possible, the objective of this game is to have the best three-card combination possible.
There are numerous strategies and tricks that you can use when you play this game, and it gives you, the player, a greater degree of control than shot-in-the-dark games like the slots. Many casinos also offer large progressive jackpots in these games that you can win when you get the royal flush. Whether you are a casual card player or a serious online gambler, this is a game that strikes a perfect balance between high potential payout and player control.
You can actually play two games when you play 3 Card Poker Gold, be they separately or in conjunction. The first is the Pair Plus game, in which you and the dealer get your first three cards before deciding if you will continue or fold. In the Pair Plus game, you can still be paid for a lost hand if you hold a pair at the end. The other game is the Ante game, in which you put up a bet before you get the cards and then possibly bet more later.
The advantage of the Ante game is that you can win the hand if the dealer does not hold at least a queen or better. Playing both gives you twice as many chances to win in both games, but it also costs more to play.
