Congratulations should go to the Microgaming game developers who created the concept for the non-progressive video slot game titled Elementals. The Elementals are a group of super heroes that represent the four basic elements, earth, fire, water and wind. It's kind of a cross between the Fantastic Four and nature. The caricatures of the four heroes are brilliantly designed, which only serves to enhance the quality of this video slot.
The game is played with the standard 5-reels and 20 pay lines. The actual betting range is $.01 up to a max of $5.00 based on the player selecting 1-10 coins with a coin value ranging from $.01 up to $.50. When all is said and done, high rollers and experienced players may be better suited for games with higher risk.
The standard low-paying symbols are represented by fruit machine icons such as cherries, oranges, lemons, plums and watermelons, plus the four super heroes, Earth, Fire, Water and Wind. The game also comes with three special symbols. The first one is the rainbow colored "wild" symbol, which obviously serves as the game's primary wild symbol. It is used to substitute for all the standard symbols. Five wilds times the maximum bet of $5.00 per line would result in the game's largest possible jackpot of $25,000.
A sphere of bright light serves as the game's scatter symbol. If the player lands 2, 3, 4 or 5 scatters, they are rewarded with multipliers of 3X, 20X, 80X and 300X, respectively. Elementals also comes with a free games bonus symbol, which is represented by the logo "E" symbol. This particular symbol is only available on reels 1 and 5. If the player manages to land both of them at the same time, they are immediately awarded 20 free spins that come with a 2X multiplier. Note: free spins can be re-triggers up to an unlimited number of free spins.
Verdict: While the video sequences and audio soundtrack are adequate, not great, the game still has a lot of appeal. It would never be considered a great game because of the lack of a meaningful interactive game. However, the artwork and low-risk value should certainly hold appeal for players with limited video slot experience and a tight budget. As indicated above, the most intriguing part of the game is the artwork on the four main characters. If you can't have the X-men or Fantastic Four, Earth, Fire, Water and Wind just might be powerful enough to handle the job.
